Delain have been one of my favourite bands for many years, their debut album Lucidity was a perfect gothic metal album filled with atmosphere, fantastic song-writing, and excellent vocals from both lead singer Charlotte Wessels and a variety of guest performers. The duet here is excellent, with Charlotte and Marco taking it in turn to sing the chorus, adding to the epic vibe, they have a real chemistry together, which is why I imagine he has appeared on three of the albums.

They are the primary carriers of melody in the music, but unlike before the guitars follow the keyboard lines they lay down, making this the most overtly melodic of Delain's studio efforts. I highly recommend this for fans of gothic and symphonic metal - it isn't a new sound or anything, but Delain never were pioneers.

Although certain songs are a bit more memorable than others, the album as a whole is very enjoyable and well made. They work brilliantly in unison with the guitars to provide the perfect sugary sweet back drop, one vulures gels very well with, you guessed it It's easily the highlight of what "The Human Contradiction" so likable.
